Comparison

Quick Commerce vs Shopify

Shopify is the best-known store builder in the world, with an app for almost anything. For a grocer that means assembling delivery slots, COD checks, tax invoices and an Arabic storefront from apps, and in Saudi Arabia and India paying a platform fee on every gateway-paid order. Quick Commerce Growth covers roughly what Shopify Grow does with eight to ten apps, with no platform transaction fee.

Choose Quick Commerce if you are

Grocers and quick-commerce shops in the Gulf and India that deliver their own orders, and want slots, COD OTP, ZATCA or GST invoices and an Arabic storefront on every plan, picker and driver apps from Growth, and no platform transaction fee.

Choose Shopify if you are

Brands that ship by courier, need a particular app from the largest ecosystem there is, sell in the UAE through Shopify Payments, or need more products or locations than our plans include.

  • In US dollars, before Shopify’s transaction fee. POS is left out of both sides: Shopify POS Pro costs $89 per location, and our POS is a separate add-on priced per register.
  • This is a Saudi stack. In the UAE, drop the ZATCA app; in India, swap it for a GST app ($4.99–49.90). The Qoyod accounting subscription behind its connector isn’t counted.
  • Store sizes assumed: about 300, 1,000 and 2,500 orders a month. Most app tiers rise with orders, so busier stores pay more. Lines marked (est.) have no published price.
  • WhatsApp and SMS message charges are left out on both sides; on Quick Commerce you pay your own provider for them.

The fee Shopify adds to each order

Shopify adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced to every order paid through a gateway other than Shopify Payments. Its help centre doesn’t list Saudi Arabia or India as Shopify Payments countries, so stores there pay the fee on gateway-paid orders such as Razorpay, UPI, PayFort or Tap.

In the UAE, Shopify Payments is available (from 2.9% + AED 1 per card payment on Basic), so the fee applies only if you choose another gateway, such as Telr or N-Genius.

We couldn’t confirm whether Shopify charges the fee on cash-on-delivery orders. The table below assumes COD orders are excluded, which is the lower figure for Shopify: the first column is a store that takes no COD, and the others show the fee on the card-paid share only.

Quick Commerce charges no platform transaction fee on any plan. You still pay your gateway’s own rates, on either platform.

Where they win

Where Shopify genuinely wins

The ecosystem and the name

Shopify’s App Store covers almost any need a merchant can think of, and agencies, developers and shoppers everywhere already know the platform. If you need one unusual capability, Shopify is the likeliest place to find it.

Shopify Payments in the UAE

In the UAE, Shopify Payments is available from 2.9% + AED 1 per card payment on Basic, with no extra platform fee. For a UAE store on Shopify Payments, the comparison comes down to the app stack alone.

No product cap, 10 locations, a lower sticker price

Every Shopify plan has unlimited products and 10 inventory locations, where ours have limits by plan. And Shopify Basic at $32 a month costs less than our Starter at $39, before any app is added.

Where we win

Where Quick Commerce wins

Growth ≈ Shopify Grow plus eight to ten apps

Slots with capacity, express delivery, COD OTP, tax invoices, Arabic, loyalty, WhatsApp cart recovery, photo reviews, and picker and driver apps all come with Growth at $85 a month. On Shopify the same list is Grow plus apps: about $365–435 a month at list prices, as of Sep 2026, billed monthly, before POS and fees.

No platform transaction fee

Shopify adds 2% / 1% / 0.6% to orders paid through gateways other than Shopify Payments, which its help centre doesn’t list for Saudi Arabia or India. We charge no platform transaction fee on any plan, whichever of our 21 gateways you connect.

Arabic and grocery operations without apps

Shopify’s official themes aren’t right to left, so Arabic needs an app, according to an RTL app vendor. Our storefront runs Arabic and English on every plan, and slots, express delivery and COD checks are settings you switch on, not subscriptions you add.

Moving from Shopify

Products, customers and orders export from Shopify as CSV, which our bulk import reads directly. Our onboarding and migration service moves your catalogue, customers and order history for you. It is a one-time add-on on Starter and Growth and included on Scale.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Shopify has thousands of apps. Why not add the ones I need?
You can, and many merchants do. The difference is cost and upkeep. At list prices, the Growth-equivalent stack is about $365–435 a month against $85 (Sep 2026, monthly billing, before POS), and in Saudi Arabia and India Shopify adds its 1% fee on gateway-paid orders on Grow. Each app also has its own bill, order-volume tiers and support. Built in means one bill, one order record and one place to set things up.
Does Shopify charge its fee on cash-on-delivery orders?
We couldn’t confirm it either way. The fee applies to orders paid through a third-party gateway. Our fee table shows the case where COD orders are excluded, which is the lower figure for Shopify, so we don’t overstate it.
Is Shopify Payments available in the UAE?
Yes. Shopify lists the UAE as a Shopify Payments country, so a UAE store using it pays no extra platform fee. Its help centre doesn’t list Saudi Arabia or India. For a UAE store the comparison rests on the app stack and the grocery operations, not the fee.
Why is Starter limited to 2,000 products?
Every plan has limits: 2,000 products on Starter, 10,000 on Growth and 50,000 on Scale, with Enterprise set by contract. Locations follow the same ladder (1, 1 and 3), and extra locations can be added on Scale, up to 53 in total. Shopify has no product cap on any plan, which is a fair point in its favour. When your catalogue outgrows a plan, moving to the next plan is the path.
Where does your ZATCA e-invoicing stand?
Phase 1 QR invoices are live on every plan. Our Phase 2 integration is built and is in validation with ZATCA, and we won't describe it as more than that until the validation is done. On Shopify, ZATCA invoicing needs a connector app at $19.99–60 a month.
Will switching cost me my search rankings?
Not if redirects are mapped. The redirect map creates a 301 automatically when a URL changes, which is what protects rankings during a move.
